Chinese New Year Lantern Festival
This year, the Chinese New Year begins on Saturday, February 10, 2024, marking the “Year of the Wood Dragon”. After a scorching hot day on January 13, my family chose to attend the Bunbury Chinese New Year Lantern Festival. We were able to immerse ourselves in the fabulous Chinese cultural events and spectacles on offer and left feeling thoroughly entertained and totally serene. If you missed this amazing event, make sure to add it to your calendar for next year!
Avonlea Family Day Care was also very lucky to have a visit from a dear friend Mary Joy, who was a participant in this event as a dancer with the Chinese Fan dancers. Mary Joy was able to share with the children a sneak preview of the fan dance, the costume and meaning of the dance. We look forward in creating our own lanterns to contribute to next years’ event.

Merry Christmas
I can’t believe Christmas is already upon us! Wishing everyone a truly wonderful Christmas and a safe and happy New Year! Thankyou to all of our families for their support throughout the year!
Brunswick Show
We even had some lucky winners and received so much feedback from the Show Stewards who absolutely loved your colourful work.
