I like to spend a lot of time playing with the children, as well as guiding them through stimulating experiences.
Throughout the day I focus on activities to engage the children, that are age and developmentally appropriate, whilst ensuring the children feel happy and safe.
Of course, part of our routine includes feeding the children, changing nappies, toileting and putting children to bed.
I don’t believe in rushing the children through their experiences, and they have agency to both self select what they would like to do, or participate in the planned activities incorporated in our educational program.
This program is child focused. I am always delighted when a child shares their ideas of what they would like to do or investigate. We are often guided by child led, spontaneous experiences.

Meals at Avonlea
All of the children’s meals are provided. The children get involved in creating the meals. I am guided by national regulations for healthy eating. I have seen that involving the children in preparing their meals has helped them to make healthy eating choices.
We do celebrate birthdays, and a celebration cake is certainly a treat!

I believe that play helps children in all aspects of brain and physical development. It helps children develop language and communication skills, express creativity, practise motor skills, problem solving and explore social relationships.
I will provide a range of activities. The children can choose between indoor areas and outdoor areas that allow nature play. There will be natural objects for construction. During play we will use shared conversations to support and extend the children’s thinking.
Our Garden
We have a lovely garden with a rock wall and slide. Our garden provides a place of exploration, adventure, and education. It makes the daycare center an exciting and enriching place.
